Fabriphilia
Today was really slow at work, and so, as is usually the case, they found things for us to do, since there weren't enough kids to keep us all busy. I ended up back in the greenroom, which also happens to be the storeroom for anything costume/theater related. Included all the fabric and sewing stuff.
The fabric is a mess. Treehouse never throws anything away, what with it being a non-profit organization, so the fabric boxes were crammed full of all kinds of fabric, including a lot of random weird stuff and a lot of little scraps.
So Holli decided that somebody needed to at least sort out the little scraps from the larger ones from the big lengths, and I volunteered. It was surprisingly fun! For one thing we've got a lot of interesting fake fur, from the various animal costumes we've done. Including some black leapoard that I was drooling at. Softest thing I've ever felt that wasn't actually from an animal. And I found some real stuff too. Leather mostly... weird. Why do we have a bunch of really nice suede leather?
Yes, I petted the fur. And the velvet. And the plush felt. And the satin. And I think I'm far too fond of fabric, because I spent most of the day back there and could have kept going when it was time to quit. Also, I lusted after the nice furs. They had a couple that would be perfect for some of my current projects, and a few other things that I know I could find a use for.
Is fabriphile a word? Because if it is, I am one...
