*ahem*

This is a public service announcement.

If you are SO sensitive that my responding to your comment in a matter-of-fact manner offends you and upsets you SO much that you have to delete said comment?

You should just take me off your friends list and go away. Because I say what I think, and I don't always care to try and put it in a politically correct or syrrupy-nice way. And I happen to think that comment deleting is lame, stupid, and cowardly. Said something you regret? Tough! You should have the balls to stick by it anyhow. And if you suddenly realized you said something stupid, and want to say something different, the "reply" button is right there, comment again and clarify. If you really want to delete comments in your own journal, I guess it's your space, go ahead, but this was in MY JOURNAL, if I want comments gone there, I'd delete 'em myself. I think it's rude to go around deleting comments in somebody else's journal. (And while we're at it, it's really also rather rude to delete comments that somebody else left in yours! If they're trolling, it's okay to be rude to trolls, so delete away, but somebody went to the effort of writing that, and you wiping it out of existance is just not polite at all!)

Yes, this is directed at one specific person. Who's gotten all offended at me before, and probably will again, and should really just spare herself the grief and unfriend me already.

...Ew.
Just hearing it... That, at best, would be a last resort. And at worst... Disgusting!

I tentatively brought up the idea of live feeding because I've seen it work when nothing else would. Beyond that, I've raised pet rats AND mice, and really dislike them being feeders overall. However, it is necessary to cull the population, and they can't ALL be pets.

But... Braining? YUCK.

Oh yes. I would try fresh killing them myself before I'd try braining, it's just plain gross. Ugh. Though I suppose I would probably try braining before feeding live, just because once you get a snake used to live, it's nearly impossible to go back again.

Braining generally IS ONLY a last resort kind of thing, obviously it qualifies as animal cruelty, and your snake should not be trained to eat food that is mutilated. While i highly support responsible live feeding, braining should not be done unless it is to save your snake's life- it is gross enough to have to brain a FT mouse, can't imagine doing it live.... :P

Uhm? I WAS talking about braining a f/t mouse. I would NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, even consider braining a live one!

Yeah, apparently, some people have recommended braining lives in DESPERATE situations. Something I wouldn't be able to do, i would probably adopt a snake out before I started chopping up live animals, just way too violent. I don't own turtles for the similar reasons, they are brutal to feed mice to... Braining an FT every now and then is usually done to get stubborn feeders to switch to FT or to feed fasting babies. not very common though, force feeding usually saves those picky snakes.

I don't really see the big deal about braining it when it's already dead- it's pretty gross though. :P

(this coming from someone who often keeps roadkill for bones, me=desensitized)

And while I'm on the subject, WHAT IS IT with snake people assume I am cruel, mean or a total idiot?! I mention braining as something I'd do, I must mean braining live mice? WHY would you even think that? I say I'm using a half log as a temporary hide until I get a better one, and it's assumed I think half logs are great. I say I want the snake and tank to be for "display" and it's assumed I know nothing about ball pythons and expect it to be out and active all day!

WHY do people assume I'm a total moron? Can we not give the benefit of the doubt here? Can we not assume the kinder thing first, rather than assuming I'm going to mistreat animals?

..... ?

Um, i don't think you're a moron. And i don't think most snake owners are cruel or idiots. I wouldn't be able to do it, but I don't condemn anyone who can, i admire their fortitude, actually. Unless they get sexual enjoyment out of slaughter or whatever, I admire those who will do what it takes to keep their animals healthy/comfortable.

The reason i thought you were talking about LIVE braining is because you were talking about how it was really gross. I've had to chop up FT's for birds of prey and it just doesn't gross me out anymore, so I assumed that you were thinking that braining lives was really gross and something you would never do. Please don't assume that i think you're an asshole- because i don't, I wouldn't even if you did have to brain a live to save your snake's life. I wasn't trying to preach to YOU, just mentioning as a general note that this is occasionally done, but not a good idea. i do this so that any dumbass who reads your post doesn't think- cool, let's go torture mice...
When it comes to snakes and fencing, it isn't like art, i can't see what you are doing online, so i will overexplain a subject to make sure I am not messing up someone with badly explained information. I would rather ramble than cause uneccessary problems.
Sorry.
