Real life, take 2

The big news today? Nothing whatsoever. But tomorrow I start my Institute of Religion class, which should be fun. Last semester I took a marriage preparation class (Hey, I was engaged at the time, I figured it would be a good idea) and that was actually a blast. The teacher was terrific, and I learned some useful stuff. This go around I wanted to take Church History, but it's only offered as an evening class, so I ended up with Teachings of the Modern Prophets instead. I'm hoping that will be a good one. It's one I've never taken. So starting tomorrow I will again be having actual social interaction with real life people. Fun... I'm wondering if the gang that used to hang out playing pool in the rec room will be there over the summer, or if they've all gone home. That was my main hang out spot last year. It's not fun to hang out when there's nobody there.

That's one thing about the net, you can always find somebody around who you can talk to, who has similar interests and such. Too bad it's not that easy to find people in real life. Well, I'll give it a go. Who knows, maybe my prince charming will be talking the same class... (A girl can dream, right?)

Good news and bad news.

At work today my right hand started to ache and I'm afraid I may be developing carpal tunnel syndrome from using the ten key five hours a night five nights a week. I'd think that all the typing I do would also contribute, but it's only my right hand, the left is fine. That's tonight's bad news. (Thought I'd share that first.)

The good news is I've decided to take the plunge and begin doing a web comic on my own. It will be a lot more work than the joint web comic my brother and I used to do (Golden Gate, no longer available on the net) but I won't have to deal with the hassle of having to prod my partner into doing his part when he doesn't feel like it.

So what will the new comic be about? The title of it is Six Worlds and it's not a funny comic, it's a serious adventure comic that might have a joke or two in it. A fantasy story slightly influenced by the Final Fantasy video games, it was actually going to be a game, but I gave up on that idea since I don't have the know-how to do it myself or the connections to get somebody else to. But it occurred to me that the story line would make a great comic, so I'm giving it a go.

It will probably be in black and white with color cover pages for each chapter, at least at first. I learned with Golden Gate that the inking and coloring takes forever!

When will it be up? Well, right now all I have are a few old character sketches and some plot notes. I'll need a few weeks to do a couple of cover pages and a few strips so I have something to start with. (And I think I'll do a couple of teaser adds and banners so that I can get a bit more traffic. Golden Gate never really attracted many readers.) I probably won't be hosting it on Keen, it's way to annoying to have to deal with their system. I'll have it at some spot of my own, probably topcities. I'll stick a link up from here when I've got something there.
