So, I'm aware that this is probably a case of the pot calling the kettle black, since I've long defended my right to have reactions based on emotion rather than just logic. (And I still find it really sad that I have to do so, but that's a whole 'nother rant there.) But I really can't wrap my brain around this one at all. I mean... when I get upset, there's a reason behind, it, and I cannot find the reason here at all.

So, on to the story.

On the Windstone forums there's an area called the "flea market." It's for buying, selling, and swapping Windstones. Gal posted there a while ago with a long list of items she was looking to sell. She'd sold them all when a second person entered and asked about one of them. It was long gone, like the second thing to sell, but I happened to have one that I'd decided I didn't actually need. (I'm a bit broke feeling, as I've mentioned, and this was never one of my favorites.) So I piped up with "Gal 1 has sold hers, but if you're looking, I've got one." And she responded positively asked my price, and I gave her a price, she made a counter-offer, I took it. Six posts total.

I go to check the forum today, and there's the original gal, who has posted about how horrifically hurt and offended she is that I'd post something like that in her thread! I need to do selling in my own thread, she says.

I apologized, explained that I hadn't wanted to clutter up the forum with a new thread when I could resolve this quickly right there, and said sorry I wouldn't do it again, and her response, was to say that she had spent an hour and a half calming down enough to post her first response, and that this was just horrible, and she's so terribly upset.

I'm apologzing again, but I'm just... baffled here. WTF?

She was done! Her sale was over! I wasn't stealing her business, and this is a PUBLIC FORUM that actually ECOURAGES off-topic posts. (It tends to be a madhouse there, really. The topics about food end up on Windstones, and the topics about Windstones end up on computers, and the topics about computers end up on food. Very fun.) But anyhow... I just can't get my brain around this.

I mean, of course she'd be mad if I'd made that offer in her thread before she sold her item, but.... she sold it days ago! She sold everything days ago! It's all gone except I think one peice that three different people were arguing over that's still up in the air.

Can anybody think of a reason why this could possibly be offensive? I really, really, really can't find one. I'm trying, but I can't. It makes no sense at all to me. She doesn't own "her" thread, and even if she did, she was done with it.

Today is good day. Firstly, there was buying a turly massive stack of the new PYO Windstone wolves for a gal from the forum. She had to be at work when the wolves were due to be released, but really wanted some, so we made arrangements for me to get some for her.

Then I went and got one for myself too. And I gave in a bought one of the limited production new curled dragons. They're teeny, and a part of me wails at spending $60 on a few ounces of gypsum, glass, and paint, but that bit is probably just my mother, so I squish it and go on with enjoying my beautiful and valuable collection.

Though I decided to sell my unicorn. I haven't had him for all that long, but he just wasn't... just wasn't as nifty as the dragons. I'm not really collecting them for the sake of having a collection, I'm collecting them because they're lovely to look at. Thus, though the unicorn is very pretty, he's not as pretty as the dragons, and being in worrysome financial straits, and being as how somebody made me an offer, he just had to go. I was happy to have had him for a while, and having had him for a time will keep me from wanting to bid on every one that I see. (Seriously... I want to bid on any and every Windstone sometimes, even the ones I know I don't really want to pay money for!) He went to a very eager collector who will appreciate him. The pegasus, once fully repaired, may well go that same route. We'll see. Anyhow, I now have shelf space for all but one of my male dragons again. Woo. That'll change rather quickly, I'm sure. The young dragon, the mother, one male, and one of the orientals are currently languishing on bookshelves because the display shelf lacks room for them. Thank heavens Kali has no interest in them.

Anyhow, today! Today was good. As a result of helping a fellow collector, my credit is very high on the forums right now, with one previously noted exception, and that has me all cheery, and then I was presented with a gift of fate in the form of a Subway sandwich.

I have been craving Subway of late, you see. But JJ has Subway most every day, as there's one on campus. Thus he has not been willing to go to Subway on those occasions when we go out and get fast food. Today I was starving, and particularly craving a meatball sub with cheese and spinach and onion and tomato.... mmmmmm.... *drool* Anyhow, we stopped at a grocery store other than the one we usually frequent, as it was on the way home from the post office, and LO! Sharing the same little shopping center was a Subway! So while JJ went and bought what he'd come for, I went and got my meatball sub. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Thus, today is a good day.

Idiotic arguments about salmon notwithstanding.

And the term "abomination" is especially appropriate on the second one.
