I HATE serverpro. It's gone from "eh, they're not that great" to "burning desire to kill." If you have webhosting through them, or through topcities or any of their other affiliates, GET AWAY NOW.
They FAIL at being online, I've had more down time and unnanounced server outages with them than is kosher, and they REALLY fail because I found out that my domain name expired by a customer telling me my website was gone. HELLO TARDMONKIES. You're supposed to want money from me. So freaking TELL ME that it's going to expire and hit me up for the cash to renew, you MORONS.
I've renewed it now, but it looks like I won't actually be able to get the site up again until some live body at their end does something. MORE FAIL.
So I am really sorry, but due to total and utter TARDMONKIES that I have no control over, my site will probably be down until Tuesday.
Edit: Many, many thanks to all those who have kindly offered me mirrors and interim hosting. Unfortunately the space isn't problem, the domain name is. I have plenty of space left on my Hostgator server, which actually hosts most of the content of my site. What they don't host is the domain name itself, that's owned by serverpro. So the problem isn't a matter of lacking hosting, it's a matter of lacking access to my domain name! It relapsed back into their ownership when I failed to renew my account (thanks to their failure to notify me that this was happening.) I should have it back in my control come Tuesday, but until I do, there really aren't any other options.
Edit, edit: I am amused. Googling "godaddy problem" gets you 2,330,000 results. All of the first page are negative. The first one is actually a compilation of all kinds of bad stuff about them. The second involves fraud, and the comments include quite a few people sharing similar stories. I wasn't quite bored enough to actually read the rest of the results, but the text summaries on page one suggest that they're more or less in similar theme.
Googling "hostgator problem" gives 448,000 results. Story one is about some hosting complaints, story two kind of makes me roll my eyes because although he did genuinely get screwed over, he calls it a "scam" when it's very obviously not a scam. (DMCA and copyright issues got his site taken down, probably unjustly. But it's always sticky stuff, that.) But number three is what amused me enough to add it on here. "The only problem with Hostgator is that they have no problems. That, my dear friends is my problem." *giggles* I'm sure I could get screwed over by them too, they're Big Business and I am Little Guy, and it happens. But thus far they've been better than serverpro ever was, even back in the "good old days" before they started being down so much and sucking so badly.
