Huzzah for brassicas.
Apr. 20th, 2020 07:28 pmDid you know that bok choy and turnips are the same species? I'd actually assumed that bok choy was part of the massive cabbage species, brassica oleracea, which is conventional cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, broccoli, kholrabi, and a bunch of other things. But in fact it's a turnip. Which is related to oleracea, but not the same species, it's a different brassica.
Anyhow.
This is all to say that I did eat my bok choy today. Oven roasted with olive oil and then drizzled in teriyaki sauce, which was good, but I think I need to find a different go-to for bok choy, because it wasn't amazing. I could do better, I'm sure. I just have to figure out what. They've listed bok choy in all the farm boxes so far, so I assume there will be more coming next time I get one.
I've still got some lettuce, baby turnip, kale, and raddish for further salads. I also have potatoes and leeks, which are probably going to be potato-leek soup, but we'll see what I feel like. It's surprising how fast I've gone through what seemed like a huge box of veggies, though!
