Goodbye and good riddance
Jan. 1st, 2021 08:46 amSo 2020 is out the door, none of it left anywhere on the globe.
Good.
I know, of course, that the arbitrary passing of a particular moment humans have chosen to mark off as "a year" doesn't change anything. But we are creatures of symbol and ritual, so having this symbolic tossing out of the bad works pretty well for me!
I finished the year by drunkenly submitting a story to F&SF Magazine, which I figure is a good final note. (I had prepped the submission well in advance, while quite sober! It's just that they opened up again on somebody's midnight, and since it was ready to go, I figured why not just send it in?)
I don't really do resolutions or goals for the year. A year is too much time! I hardly know where I'll be in a month, let alone a year. My current goal is to just get through today, you know?
Although I will say that looking forward I hope that enough people here will be vaccinated for the goober to start kindergarten in September.
Also, looking forward, I have currently submitted four books (ish, it's complicated?) that may come out next year, as well as six short stories (one already accepted!) that should also be published in various places.
So there are a few mileposts out there in 2021, but other than those, I'll be taking things one day at a time.
Good.
