I need to get some more publicity. I'm about to be out on my own, in a situation where I actually will have both space and time to turn out more than one full suit a month. And I'll need to pull at least one full suit a month to keep in rent money. But I'm drawing a blank for more advertising. My google ads are both running again, and I"m sure that will bring in some income. I get the occasional nibble from the forums I'm in, and I have a good reputation on all of them, but none of them are really pulling a lot of business. Some, but not a lot. I need more exposure, and I'm trying to think where else I can go to get my name out.

Anybody here part of any good, active furry communities where a fursuit maker could have some fun conversation and let it be known that she's for hire? I won't spam 'em, I'll just be present, active, and visible.

You could always buy advertising space in various con books.

Draago hit the point I was going to make, but I think cons are your best best for drawing up more suit business. You don't have to actually be there either, buy ad space in the con book and if they have a flyer table see if you send some flyers.

Getting active in the furry community in Oregon and Washington will help you too. Those areas tend to have a larger percentage of folks with disposable income as well as being fairly large communities to begin with.

I'll go "pimp" you out on the small populated furry RP site I hang out on. ;)

If paid advertising got good results, I could rely on my google ads and be content. But the fact of the matter is that 90% of my business comes from word of mouth. So sure, conventions are good, and being active in communities is WHY I posted this, as there's only so much I can do hunting for furry groups on google. But the next convention I can get involved in is months and months away. I kinda need to pick up at least one more big commission before August.

You could also try comics? Anthro or furry webcomics could have a decent target audience for you, if you could strike a deal with the creator(s). It'd depend on the type of comic, and the type of audience though, I guess.

Hrm. 'tis a tought. I tend to favor the forum/community approach, as I get to establish that I'm trustworthy, whereas actual advertising doesn't do that. But furry comics would at least reach the target audience. Given the click-through rate of the google ads, I often wonder if they're actually getting to the right people sometimes.
