Seriously though, so long as they're mint, they will only go up in value. The retired ones sell on e-bay for much, much more than they were new, and these paint your own gryphons are already retired. The regular production line will be slightly different from these ones, so once the initial batch, which is 400, I think was said, is gone, they're gone.

(*shiftyeyes* No, I didn't just go buy two more of them. Of course not. Why are you looking at me like that?)

Yep! They did a test batch, and decided that they weren't quite perfect, so they sent the original sculpture back to be fiddled with a little bit. The official release for the general public will be the same pose, and the same general details, but the fine detail, the veining on the feathers, the texture of the fur, all that, will be different.

So they'll never make any more quite like these, as the original sculpture these were cast from has been recarved, and no longer exists.

But for the paint-your-own wouldn't you have to not paint them for them to have significant resale value?

Well, yes. I don't plan on painting all of these. That's really why I went and bought a couple more. I really do want to paint the ones I have already, but I also want to be able to resell some of 'em, so...
