Today isn't going terribly well. First of all, the apartment we wanted, we shall not be getting. (Take two.) But while the first time this happened it was just a matter of us asking, and then telling us what we wanted was unavailable, this time we got all the way through the application process, which is a lot of hoop-jumping, and then were deined as being unqualified, when they had indicated we would qualify.
And so I get to hunt again, but as it's a Friday night, I can't really do anything until Monday morning. I shall have to be certain to get the Sunday classifieds, and start calling early on Monday. Bah to that, but ah well. I shall suffer nobly to attain privacy. (JJ's folks are less crazy-driving than mine, but not by all that much, and we still have no privacy here.)
But getting an apartment here is this massive three-ring circus that involved police records and forms and proof of income, which is problematic because JJ just started his current emplyment and has no pay stubs, and I can't provide any official records of this year's income at all, and last year officially I made $300, as all my profit went right out again in setup expenses.
And, as I'm trying to drum up some business, I went to post an ad on craigslist, only to accidentally post it in the wrong location. (I am not located in Warsaw. I have no idea how the heck I ended up in Warsaw.) And they will let you edit the heading, the text, the category, the contact info, and everything EXCEPT the location. So I delete the ad, and put up a new one in Eugene, or try to... only to have their anti-spam blocker tell me I can't post the same ad twice. Nevermind I've deleted the freaking thing, I still have to wait 48 hours to post it again. Bleah.
Oh, and I'm considering doing the Mephit Fur Meet this year. It's the next convention time-wise that's not in Canada, or too small to bother with. At least as far as I know. And I really do need more publicity, and a con is a great way to get some. So if anybody's been there and can let me know what it's like as far as number of people there, and atmosphere, and so on, that'd be great.
