Even fireworks were only momentarily cheering.

I can no longer get Monterey Mills rust red fox fur. That is the single fabric I use the most of. More than anything else. And there are no substitutes. I can get red, or orange, but there are only two places where I can get red-orange, one of which is lousy texture, the other of which is kind of brownish, and is a bit on the short side, and both of which cost twice as much as the Montery Mills. This sucks hugely. Now when somebody orders a fox costume, I can't say "I have the perfect fur and it's cheap too!" Instead I have to say "well... I can use crap, or I can use okay fur that will cost an arm and a leg..." And that's it. Gah.

At least every other fursuit maker out there is more or less screwed the same way. Unless they had a roll of this stuff squirreled away. I wish I'd know in in advance about this, or I would have bought a whole roll!

*whimpers*

Where do you normally buy this sort of stuff? Would it be likely that anyone else could find some for you in their locality, or is it more of a specialty store kind of thing?

I'd be happy to procure some for you as a stash if I am able to find it.

Make that, IF a store or fabrics dealer still has some discontinued stock on hand to get rid of. ;}

I get it online, from Crs crafts. Which hasn't got any back stock. Their running out was my first clue that this stuff is no longer being made.

The only local places I know that carry it don't actually have it in stock, they'll order it in for you. Which, of course, is no longer an option.

If you have a local fabric store there, I suppose there's a dim chance they carry it, it's this fur: http://bladespark.topcities.com/costume/lgfoxtail.jpg

Nrrk. The company discontinue it or go out of business or something? With the way you use it, it sounds more like it's popular enough to deserve to stay, not go away.

Fursuit makers are one teeny tiny corner of the fake fur industry. There are a few hundred of us at the very most, and only a dozen or so professionals. We don't make a dent in he fake fur market one way or another.

the lady who ordered the 300 yards of it backed out after they made it... so that's the only reason it was ever avaliable in the first place.

Well, rats. I would think with as many mascot makers and hobbyists as there are, there'd be some clout, but I guess not, huh?

The pro masoct makers don't count. They have different sources and resources than we do, and they don't and won't pull with the fursuiters on any issue.

Boo on them, then. Too bad that the market moves with them and not you. Hopefully, the company will see the error of its ways and restore the fur to all.
