I painted another gryphon! And I must say I think this one is my best yet. No metallilcs this time, just nice, bright colors. I tried something experimental this time, which was to do a wash of pale blue-gray first, to create shadows, and then go and put the warm colors of the stripes over the top of that. I was worried that the blue might look wrong right next to the yellow and orange, but I actually think it worked just right!
This guy is a phoenix/firecat gryphon, of course!
