Well, I noticed that registration for Costume Con 26 was open, and people who sign up this early get half price! Given that Costume Con is a $100 membership fee, probably the most expensive I've ever seen (but for VERY good reason, and very worth it,) that was a wonderful deal. I've been planning on attending CC26 since I was at CC23 in 2005. Any of you who do automatic math will have noticied that 23 being 2005, 26 must therefore be 2008. This is correct. I have now registered for a convention that is more than a year and a half away. Which feels really weird, but I really, really, really want to go, and heck, if somehow I'm kept from it, I'm only out fifty bucks. I'll be more upset about missing the con than I will be about wasting the money. Now I just have to figure out if I want to count on JJ being able to make it, and register for him early as well... (And get flights and book hotel early, but that'll have to wait at least a while. They don't let you book flights 21 months in advance, though I do hear tell some hotels take reservations that far off. But as the convention doesn't have an official word on the hotel it'll be at yet, I guess that'll have to wait too.)

The good thing about knowing this far in advance is that it gives me time to actually make a decent competition costume for the Masquerade. I have a good idea of what I'd like to do. We'll see if it works out.

Reserving that sort of thing in advance is just plain prudent. My friends and I already have hotel rooms for next year's Anthrocon, just to be safe.
