"it just seemed like a shoddy way to finish it off. I'm sorry."

SPark: Hey, just for my own curiosity- how many of you makers here use velcro in your suits sometimes?
Gryphon: I always use velcro.
Gryphon: Snaps suck.
PPardus: If you're going to use snaps use the biggest ones you can find.
Aaron_Raccoon: I haven't had any problems with snaps, though I used huge ones.
Gryphon: Yea. Like.. the 1/2 inchers.

Velcro > snaps

I admit I'm not a fursuiter. TT(hubby)is a fursuiter. I do however sew quite a bit and after looking at the pics of suits, yours and others as well as my experience with all types of fabrics, I would have to say that my first choice for any type of closures would be velcro. Not just because of the sheer bulk of fur, but also for the ease of the person wearing and having to get into and out of a suit. Kudos to anyone who takes on the task of fursuit construction and does it as well as I've seen the pics of.

I don't know... I'm imagining trying to get fur out of velcro.

I had this set up so that the fur could not get caught in the velcro. That wasn't the problem. This guy just has some notion that velcro=shoddy workmanship. Totally illogical, and without any actual basis, as far as I can tell.

*nods* I imagine it would only really be a problem with very long pile, and poor placement. I'm not sure I'd trust a snap with much weight.

Besides, wasn't velcro invented for astronauts? If it's good enough for NASA... ^_^

Yeah. I have a tiny snap for my big honkin' squirrel tail from Spark. After use it's... staying shut less and less. Snaps really aren't good at handling weight. ^^; But yannow, my fault too with the specifications for my tail. I don't wear belts, so I needed some way to attach it to my back belt loop. A looped snap was the best concept, it's just not long lasting, I guess. Oops. Heh.

Anyway... Velcro is a great idea (for what Spark applied it to), Renkairu is just being retarded. :P

Best single loop beltloop attachment = carbiner sewn into tail. New idea just now! What do you think?

Seems workable if people dont mind the artificial look of the carabiner. o.O it'd certainly hold the weight if the stitch was tight enough.
