Kali is a big baby. I trimmed her front claws today, and she wailed like I'd murdered her on each one, and flailed about and tried to kill me. (I just trimmed off the very, very, very tip, not even an eigth of an inch, so far from the quick there's no way on earth she could have felt it.

Silly cat.

Awesome! Kittens! Kali acts like she's a kitten, even though she's two.

well, tigger's 11 weeks now, so still very much a kitten. but that's awesome that kali maintained some kitten-ness.

It's fun, though sometimes annoying.

The ironic thing is, we decided to get an adult cat because we didn't want a kitten tearing around my studio space and getting into my projects. And we picked Kali because she seemed very laid back and calm. (She is, for a few hours in any day, when she's sleepy.)

Then we got her home, and once she got used to this place, well....

She "helps" me sew a LOT. Always trying to kill my fur for me, and she regards the scissors as her arch enemy.

I'm always afraid I'm going to cut off tigger's whiskers, 'cause he loves to "help" me cut out fabric.

Oh yes! Kali paws at the scissors while I'm cutting, and tries to attack them, and I have to shoo her away. One of these days she's going to pounce on them when I'm not expecting it and get a paw cut off.

(Well, not really, I don't think that's possible.)

Not unless your scissors are quite exceptionally sharp. :)

one of 2 things. either she hasnt had her claws trimmed much, or once, someone cut into her quick.

tigger's the same way, he never had anyone trim them as far as I could tell.

usually when people have their cats declawed, there is some form of anesthesia involved. (though it's still pretty barbaric) but your way sounds even more barbaric. 8-o

Hmmmm...that reminds me a little bit of my dog and would act sometimes for nail clipping when I was growing up.

Our dog that apperently had my mother's number so to speak. She would put the clippers to his nail and he would howl in pain. She figured she was doing something to hurt him and took him to the vet. The vet said show me and she touched his claw with the clippers and he howled. After which the vet took the clippers from her and went up to our dog and went clip, clip, clip and the dog just sat there without a peep. The vet then handed the clippers back to my mother and said "this dog has your number."

You should have seen my mother's face. lol. He was a very smart dog.

(and no I'm not saying that your cat is trying to fool you, your story just reminded me about this one.)
