We have the keys to our new apartment. Thank heavens I've been insisting in squirreling away as much as I can into savings, because it meant I had the full amount of our deposit and first month's rent right on hand. (JJ owes me!) And the new place is just.... wow! I mean first off, the owner/manager/supervisor whatever the heck he is that we've spoken with (the guy in charge, definitely, not some underling,) is letting us start moving in now, but isn't actually charging us rent for the tag end of December, just January. And he lives on site, and has expressed horror when we mentioned a few of our (really very minor) troubles with the people who run this place we're in now, leading me to believe that he's much more dedicated to taking care of his tenants, and will be fixing problems fast. He was shocked to find the previous occupants had repaired a window with duct tape, and assures us that he'll fix it properly asap. Here duct tape is the least of the problems.

So, better management. Also, just a better apartment all around. Newer, better maintained, CLEAN! This old place was superficially clean when we moved in, but poking into odd corners revealed some truly disgusting things, and a lot of dust. There are some drawers here we never use, never open even, because they're nasty, and I'm not sure it would be possible to clean them without replacing them, really. Ugh. This new place is totally spotless. It won't stay that way once we're in, of course, but it's that way now. Fresh coat of paint on everything, even. Carpets are nice. My closet is enormous, I may even be able to get the entire furpile in there. No fleas! No carpenter ants! SOUNDPROOFING! The apartment next door has a little Westie, totally adorable, barked its head off the whole time we were there today, but once we stepped inside you could barely hear it!

And we can start moving in tomorrow! We're going to get essentials over there asap, but the full move will probably sprawl across a few weeks. We've got unti the 18th of Jan to be fully out of the old place. The manager of the new place said that we shouldn't be charged rent after we're out, if we move out before that, but honestly the folks at the new place made it sound like we'd be charged until the 18th no matter how soon we were actually out by. Dunno, I guess we'll find out. We've already had the electricity turned on, will be getting the internet trasfered over shortly, and all the other utilities are included in the rent. There's no way on earth the electric bill there is going to be higher than the ridiculous gas bill we have here. No freaking way. And the whole thing is just $70 a month more than what we're paying now.

And to add to my good mood, I'll be getting a decent fursuit payment today, thusly I should be able to begin building my savings back up soon, I hope.

P.S. Expected payment just arrived. With a $50 tip attached! That just made my day!
