Long term hand sewers can get a notched tooth from biting off the thread all the time :D They actually use that in forensics.

Funky! I uses scissors, trying to bite heavy duty hand quilting thread through is too hard.

I'm just getting a really toughened spot on the side of my pinky, because of the way I grab the thread below the needle with my other fingers to give it a little tightening tug with every stitch. Which rubs the thread against my pinky.

For the longest time I was trying to figure out why the heck I had this little rough spot on the side of my pinky. How do you get a callus (callous?) there, for heaven's sake?

Now that you mention it, I think I developed a similar callus when I hand sewed a lot over the summer. It's mostly gone now because I only hand sew the things that absolutely, positively cannot be done by machine.

And I know I've spent too much time on the computer when my elbow gets shiny and cracked from propping my cheek against it while I stare at the screen XD

*laughs* I'm just wearing a dent in the cushion I lean my arm on when sitting at the computer. And that's also why the hand sewing callus, because I can hand sew at the computer, and I like to sew and read stuff.

I could never get the hang of that, since I can't look at what I'm sewing while I'm looking at what I'm reading. And if I alternate back and forth, I just get confused :P

Sewing and tv, however. That's very doable, though I can still loss track of the story.. I guess I just can't focus on more than one thing at a time XD

I've done that!! It's annoying because they're not really useful callouses after you're done sewing, so they're just kinda annoying and we start to pick at them...
