I give up

The universe hates me! It really does!

My computer is broken.

I have no money.

I'm behind again on projects because I don't work well when stressed.

And as if that wasn't fun enough, today, my sewing machine stopped working! I have NO idea whatsoever what's wrong with it, but it's not sewing correctly, the stitches aren't interlocking the way they're supposed to, it's making about every tenth stitch, and just unreeling thread in between. And the sewing machine repair place is closed, of course.

*falls over dead* I give up.

Hang in there- keep your fingers crossed for me next weekend, and I'll have a $150 Loonakit order.

I don't think I should cross my fingers for you, they seem to be jynxed! But good luck, I guess. For both our sakes!

mine did that once... i was able to fix it after reading the troubleshooting section in the manual... but i can't for thi life of me remember what it was that i had to fix that time...

[identity profile] bladespark.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I haven't got a manual. I wonder if there's one for it online somewhere. It's a very old machine, so I'm not sure there would be.

[identity profile] jtbeckett.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
hmmm... well, i'll be home in about two weeks... i could look it up in my manual, but i don't know if it would translate to a different machine...

i vaguely remember something about a dull, or slightly bent needle... or the tension setting, or maybe something about the needle not sitting right where it's supposed to be held... gosh, that doesn't help much, does it?

[identity profile] bladespark.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. Well, I'd been thinking it was something about the bobbin. It usually is. If it's the needle, this might explain why it only happens when I'm sewing thick fabric.

Hang in there Spark. You're great and you'll get things worked out. Stress really sucks and I'm having enough of my own so I sure understand.

What is your PC doing? I work in IT and fix them for a living.

[identity profile] bladespark.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's doing nothing. This is the problem. Push the power button, nothing happens. Although it's plugged in, it might as well not be, it's just dead.

And no, it's not the power supply.

No, it's not the motherboard either.

We took the whole thing to bits and tested it one part at a time, turns out it's the video card. Though I've never heard of a video card causing the motherboard to be completely dead, but that's what it was doing.

So we'll be fixing it as soon as the new video card comes.

[identity profile] draggo.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not surprised that the video card would cause that. I've seen stranger things happen. Also I got a couple old towers and monitors I have no use for right now. They do work though.

Grr. When it rains, it pours. But that means you're getting all your bad karma out of the way for a very long time now, right?
