I don't claim you people AT ALL. In a mere two months of being involved in the BJD fandom I have been attacked and insulted and belittled and treated poorly more often than I have in TEN YEARS in furry. In fact, more than I have ANYWHERE on the internet except Something Awful.

Feel proud of yourselves, I guess. Little children playing with dolls is what you act like, so that's how I'm going to regard you.

I'm a adult who likes art, so I guess I'll just enjoy my doll by myself, because I do not want to put up with the kind of crap where I can't be myself, can't have an opinion, can't offer debate or disagreement without being viciously attacked. If I wanted that I'd go join Something Awful again.

Somebody on loose joints was extremely idiotic at me. I had expressed an opinion differing from most of those in the thread, and he put words in my mouth that I never said, called me stupid, and generally was rude, insulting, and seems to have not even read the actual text that I posted.

Yeah. I can see how some people into the doll thing, well... some of them are children, DOA seems to have problems with people under 13 getting in, after all. But some of the adult ones seem to be into dolls as a way to regress to childhood. They just want to run around on the playground and act like kids and have no responsability. Or so it seems to me.

Of course some of them are nice, and mature, but... the three major forums have proved to have enough childishness that I'm just not willing to put up with it any more. I was willing to put up with the drama if they'd leave me out of it, but I have opinions, and if I can't voice them without being slammed, then I won't stay. I've left other forums for it. If civil disagreement isn't possible, you're not going to find me there.

Y'know, this is why I avoid fandoms

Because in any fandom there always appears to be a core who actually scare me. Literally, these people treat their fandom with the same fanatical zeal you normally expect from a frothing crusader or wild eyed flagellant. If one of them said they were going to suicide bomb an author because their favourite issue did not arise in a book/film/series I would actually pause and wonder if they were serious.

These fanatics are fun to watch from a distance though

I've kind of decided to stick to my personal friends who I know have an interest in dolls. The fandom is ... yeah, scary. I thought that forum was better behaved; I apologize.

I'm sorry to hear you were treated so badly- that is a risk you take being online where so many people like to think being a jerk is ok because they are online- I just hope you have enough friends to help balance out all that bad stuff- *hugs* It can be hard sometimes, and speaking as someone that does tend to get bashed on and even my dolls get it too- I know it can be hard sometimes to shrug it off, but just keep in mind that you are an awesome person and extremely talented no matter what internet idiots say- they were probably jealous of your talent and dollies and adorable plushies anyways.
