Hathathat

I need a hat. Hat! Specifically, I need a pony hat. More specifically, I need Steamer's hat. Unfortunately on ebay, Steamer sold second hand is usually hatless. At the moment there is only one Steamer pony with a hat. (There was another one that claimed to be "with accessory" but when I checked, the accessory in question was his bandanna not his hat. Which is silly, given that he was five or six times the price of the ones with no accessories. A bandanna does not add $30 to the worth of your pony!) The one with hat is twice that of those without hat, and I'm really not sure the hat is worth $10, particularly when I don't want the pony, so actually I'd be paying $20-ish for the hat.

I've signed up for two MLP trading message boards, where I shall post a want add for the hat, but the odds are slim that I'll get it. I wish my sculpting skills were better, I could make a hat. Maybe I'll try making a fabric hat, though the authentic hat was made from plastic.

Can you show me a pic? I might be able to find one in the giant box of ancient MLP stuff.

the best board is the arena. www.mlparena.com

and for the record, some hats do usually sell for about 10, especially if theyre in pretty good shape.

So I've heard. If this one is worth $10, I'll probably go with making my own. I'm not trying to recreate a mint Steamer, I'm doing something else entirely.

Scroll down a bit, he's the pink one with a train on his butt, the hat is light purple.

Hrm.

I think you could probably make one, although I'd say use paper and paste and fixative rather than fabric.

Inspiration just struck! I'm going to make it from wonderflex! Glee!

It is this stuff! That is awesome! The "wonder" bit in there is actually appropriate. (Unlike most things named "wonder___") It's a fabric with plastic on. Or maybe a plastic with fibers in. You can heat it up with a head gun and shape it all kinds of ways. It is super easy to work with, and so strong it's very nearly impossible to rip or tear it. It sticks to itself when warm so you don't even need glue. It's what those hooves I posted yesterday are made from.
