He's just chilling right now. I can see why they do get called "pet rocks" as he's quite happy to just sit there. That's okay. He's pretty active when handled so far, and I'm sure he'll be moreso as he gets used to being here.

Date: 2007-07-31 09:24 pm (UTC)Cute story about a ball python. I was working at a pet store way back when. The owner purchased 25 ball pythons from a breeder. We were putting them in bags with fuzzies, but somehow one of them got put in a bag with a mostly grown hopper type mouse. That mouse chewed a hole in the snake, and somehow the snake survived.
I took him home and nurtured him back to health, then named him "Notch". In spite of his trauma, he was a voracious eater. In fact, he was almost vengeful against the rodent race the way he'd go after mice.
He eventually went to a great home.

Date: 2007-08-01 02:02 am (UTC)Snakes are not terribly active unless they need to be - it's an energy-conservation trick, which, given their low metabolism, allows them to stay long periods between meals.
Endothermic creatures are sort of the odd ones, given that mammals need to keep moving in order to maintain their heat, at which point they need to be active in order to find enough food to maintain the energy levels to keep moving in order to stay warm-- you get the idea. :)

Date: 2007-08-01 05:39 am (UTC)If he was mine, I don't think I could keep my hands off him... I'd love to have a really huge one that could just wrap around my shoulders and chillax there.
I don't really want to feed someting little rabbits though. Maybe chickens, but not bunnies! <:(

Date: 2007-08-01 06:05 am (UTC)I think I could feed a snake named Nagini rabbits, actually. Just for the novelty.

I would be fine with rats.
