That...... makes a huge amount of sense. Seriously, sense just... scattered all over the place here. Not only doe it fit human culture and biology, but it also flows along with what we see in many other mammal, or even just plain animal realms. Like brighter coloring, big fuffy manes, tusks that can grow into the head, riskier behaviour, they all tie in. We jus don't see all the loser males in the animal realm because... well they tend to kind of die X.x
The only exceptions to that study, are indeed the exceptions themselves, like risk seeking, extreme ended women, that are bad at close relationships and such, but the, that's why such words as 'most' and 'many' are used ^.^
Blurgh. I got about halfway through before my eyes stopped focusing. DX So tired!
Anyway, it is a good article. The woman writing it is very calm and that makes things so much easier to read. :3 She has good points. I like her thoughts.
Ha! I had a strong suspicion men are hornier. I think that's what really pulls apart a relationship. Especially in this sex driven society... :/ *sigh*
That's a really neat essay with a lot of really intelligent and careful thinking behind it. It really has a feel of rightness to it, when you consider all the different social, historical, and biological factors going into it like the author does. Thanks for sharing!
Well, that answers a few questions for me. Some of them fairly deep-seated. It doesn't mean they're the right way to go, but it does help to reframe thought processes into something more satisfactory. Thanks for the link.
*chuckle* if I was being cynical, I'd also say that article, if correct, would prove the whole 'nice guys finish last' thing too - because their inclination towards the more personal, smaller networks and lower obvious risk taking subconsciously appears less attractive than the risk-taking, shallower, more aggressive types thanks to thousands of years of evolution and social conditioning: they aren't 'good' for the species because they are too safe a bet.
