Generic advice
Oct. 24th, 2007 06:19 pmI've probably seen a hundred sites like this now. Some are just blogs, some are centered around a book somebody's pushing, and others are written as part of a lecture tour. All of them are supposedly giving advice to entrepreneurs who want to start or are starting a business. But as far as I can tell they're all pretty much useless. Why? Because theyr'e generic. What kind of advice can you give to "somebody starting a business"? Well, if you have no information about what kind of business he's starting, you can't really say much, can you? But people make a living saying "not much" to would-be business owners.
Here's an example of the kind of site I mean. (Though this one is much less buzzword-laden than some I've seen.)
I wonder what the people who follow the sites and buy the books and attend the lectures think they're getting out of it?
