I was trying to roast chestnuts in the oven for a recipe I'm making tomorrow.

I forgot to prick them before putting them in.

I remembered that I should have pricked them when the first one exploded.

Any of the others can explode at any time from now until they're fully cooled. So I can't open the over door to help them cool, because of the exploding possability, and thus they get to just sit there, in a hot oven, for heaven knows how long.

And they're probably not even sufficiently cooked.

Well, there hasn't been a new explosion in a while, but it looks like about a third of them went off, and the rest are still warm enough that they could go off if I handle them, so I'm waiting...

Huh... I've never had nor cooked those, so I know absolutely nothing about them. My only experience with anything exploding in the kitchen is the time my mom blew up a glass baking dish by trying to reheat food on the stove in it... It sounded like a sonic boom, and we were lucky to be in the other room when it went off.

Mmm chestnuts... however, chestnut-shrapnel is significantly less enjoyable! o_O
