I generally don't do con reports, you all probably don't need the blow-by-blow of the weekend. But a few high points:
1. The calico suit was a hit. Woot! Everybody loved her. You can see a snippet of her near the beginning of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh4SpG_2lvU She got lots of pettings and lots of compliments. Dragon suits also seemed to go over well, though I wasn't in them, so I don't know exactly how much attention they got.
2. I went to the BEST PANEL EVER OMG I am totally changing how I build heads! Only I'm not, but I'm changing the materials and they're going to be SO much more sturdy, but will look exactly as great as they do now. Heee! Maybe even a little better. *ahem* Yeah. The basic head construction panel sucked hard, but the advanced one was seriously the most I have ever learned at a convention panel of any sort, and I am so stoked to try out some new methods that should really improve my stuff. (For any potential customers reading, do know that this means I may be having a price jump in the near future, once I'm used to the new methods. So now is a good time to get in a down payment and place an order!)
3. ZOMGWTFBBQFANGIRLWHUT!!!!!!!!!!! Lance Ikegawa not only still knows who I am, which rather floored me last year when he knew me by name (like... by real name AND nickname) and was familiar with my stuff, but this year he asked me for some business cards, so he could hand them out to people when he gets an interested customer who gets severe sticker shock when they find out his price tag. And he was all going on about how great it was that I was doing this and that, and ZOMG!!!!!! The idol of my fursuiting world recommends me to people WTF?! *dies of glee* He also gave me some wonderful advice on making quad suits, and I am quite determined now to make one. I've been doing design stuff all weekend, and will probably be starting contruction pretty soon.
4. I handed out 70 business cards, counting the ones I gave to Lance. So I hope to get a good bit of new business from this!
5. Next year I'm having my own room, and I'm doing a room party on Sunday. This is because this Sunday I wanted to socialize, but I was tired and starting to get a headache, and literally every single room party I could find had LOUD music. Ugh. So I just went up to the room and did nothing. Meh. I think that by Sunday some people are too tired out to deal with a high energy party, and there needs to be one that's low-key. Quiet classical music or something else mellow, snacks, beverages, conversation. Held on a floor far away from the party floor.
6. I'm SO stoked for Costume Con, the people running it were here at FC drumming up publicity, and I heard so many good things about what the con will be like. But I really need to find a roommate. Just one, I think. Sharing with four others was a bit much this year, particularly as three of them didn't have great room manners, and I'm going to have a TON of costume stuff in the room at CC. Anybody reading this thinking of going? It's probably the BEST con for actually learning stuff, the panels are amazing, and it's very fun. And very welcoming of fursuiters, cosplayers, and whatever else, especially this year. It's at the same hotel as FC, the San Jose Doubletree, in April.
Anyhow, that's all I can think of right now. Now I'm off to peruse the intarwebs for supplies for my quad suit!
