Peacock tail is finished! I totally underpriced this for the amount of work it took, but that's okay, I really wanted to try making this tail. I've been wanting to do an avian tail in this style for ages and ages, so this was the perfect excuse.

Wow, that's really beautiful. :) Haven't seen so many avian tails out there, and definitely no peacocks before! It's really great.

Wow-- very pretty! This is a matter of preference-- whether you like the softer, water-color-y effect or a more sharply defined look-- but you might try (on test pieces) trimming the fur around the "eyes" with scissors. I've found that with small spots especially (which get lost under the overlapping longer fur) benefit from trimming. This makes the spots pop out, visually. Plus, less maintenance needed to keep them looking good.

That's a good idea. I'm waiting to hear back from the customer on this one, I may shoot the idea at them and see if they like it.

That's so cool! I'm not totally versed in all the fursuits out there, but I've also noted a lack of avians. Very nice, I bet they'll love it.

i love it! what's inside the feathers??? how rigid are they?

They're backed with foamies, aka. fun foam. So they're fairly flexible.

Good looking tail! What's holding all the layers together?

They're sewn together on the back side, and then everything is glued to a layer of foam (green, it matches the fur color exactly.)

Ah, neat! I hope that the avian that it's for appreciates the plumage. Will it stand up like the biological plumage does?

Nope. Moving parts make things ten times harder. :P And I'm not an engineer.

Nuts, but fair to you. Moving parts would have also made it much more expensive, too. Perhaps the end user will have to find a way of propping it up if they want their plumage to try and display.
