Ponies!

I get the feeling I may end up getting a few commissions for these.

Moondancer, and a breezie. :D

Moondancer is a little less than a foot tall, so she's pretty big. The breezie is not quite 5 inches. Moondancer's tail is just a tiny bit fragile, I can't just toss her on the sprite pile. I think if I do another I'm going to re-design the tail so it touches the back legs, which will be much more stable.

Also, I've come up with a formula for consistently pricing these things. Which formula results in Moondancer being $12, if you wanted a similar sprite, and the breezie being $2. (Based on the number of beads. Remember your math, doubling the height squares the area, so the price goes up FAST as they get bigger.)

I suspected you might feel that way. :)

You need cheering too. How about I give you a free itty bitty pony (like the Breezie) to go with your other pony?

Oh, and speaking of bead sprites, you might get your vulpix etc. tomorrow. :)

Moondancer!!!

She's gorgeous! One of my earliest ponies and one of my favorites.

She's one of my childhood favorites too. The other option was Firefly, but I didn't have any of the right shade of pink.

Wow, this is a really nice bead-thingie, my favorite so far. Very well done.

Do you do these purely by hand and eye, or do you have a program or layout sheet to tell you what colors you need and where to place them?

I have the original sprite open in photoshop. I just zoom in until I can see pixels, is all. :) No special program.

Any issues with counting beads? I always ran into trouble when I tried to do chainmaille inlays, with keeping track of which rings I'd already inserted. I guess each "stitch" is simpler to eyeball here, and of course the overall process is faster for a given surface area.

I don't do it by rows, I do it by color. Generally starting with black/the outline color, which makes it easier. I have occasionally mis-counted and had to pull off beads and start over, but only when doing the first outline, once that's in place getting everything else correct is easy.
