Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go...
Jun. 26th, 2002 11:20 pmSo today the only notable thing I did was go to work. And let me tell you, the fates were conspiring to keep me there or something. I scan documents, if I haven't mentioned that, and our department has three people who work the evening shift, and three scanners. So one of the scanners broke a couple of days ago and they took it off to be fixed. No problem, the department across the hall has one we can borrow. But tonight I went over there and that one was broken too. So one of my coworkers got to go home, since there was only two scanners and three of us. Not an hour later another scanner froze up and we couldn't get it going, and as the other guy's fiance is sick, I said I'd stay and he could go home and be with her. So there I am all alone. No other departments have an evening shift except the computer guys in the basement, and the janitors go home around nine, so for two whole hours I was the only person in a seven-story building except possibly one or two guys down in the basement. Some people might think this was a bad thing, and it's true I would have rather gone home, but being all alone did have one benefit: I could sing along with the music on my headphones without annoying anyone. So I did. I had karaoke night at Flying-J, he he he. If only the power hadn't flickered off three times as if to torture me with the possibility of going home early I would have had an all-around great night. (And I'm surprised how many songs I know every single word to. I sung for two hours straight without hardly missing one!)
