Art contest results!

First I want to say a HUGE thank-you to everybody who entered. Seriously. Every time I saw a new entry it completely made my day. I was afraid this was going to be a fizzle and I wouldn't get anything at all, but instead I got thirteen awesome entries, every single one of which was worthy of some kind of prize.

Sadly I cannot give out infinite prizes. I have not so much money right now, or I would consider giving everybody something or other. As is, I had to choose.

So now, in traditional suspense-building style (though you can scroll to the end if you like) I'd like to thank each of the artists who didn't win first.

I just love the face on this. The pose is nice, the pearl is very nicely done, but the expression is what gets me. It's stern and adorable at the same time.

This reminds me of heraldic dragons. It's a very balanced and meticulous design, which is something I always appreciate in art. :)

I really like that this is trying to tell a story. The facial expression and the design of all the fiddly little bits is really terrific, too!

The color palette on this is just terrific, and I am impressed that every single scale got put in.

This is another one where the colors are just superb. And the coloring! The fluffy mane! It's so pretty!

The color gradient on this makes me happy. And the scales are awesome! Not to mention the spiffy accessories and all the other awesome details. I really do wish I could have awarded more prizes!

Holy crap the COLORS! The lighting! The details! Not giving this one a prize was soooooooooo hard. I love it so very much! And it comes with a concept image. Gah, so awesome!

This is so much the kind of thing I was hoping to get. A truly uinique take on the Guardian dragon concept. And the coloring is amazing! And all the details! Another one where it really hurt to not be able to give it a prize. Look at those feet! Look at that face! And the background! It's all wonderful.

I was trying to not be biased towards plushies, I know drawn art takes just as much work. But in the end I just had to award this a prize. It is so nicely designed, so cute, and so perfect for my Guardian character. Seriously, this is awesome.

Holy crap picking the last few were even harder than choosing what to give prizes to in the first place. I went back and forth and back and forth forever, this was so darn close. I could NOT possibly not give this stunning piece of art a prize. Just look at it! Holy crap! Seriously! Holy crap! It's so frigging shiny, and the base anatomy and design is pretty darn cool too. I love this! I was not expecting to get anything half this amazing, I was so floored when I saw it.

I had such a hard time choosing, but in the end this just had to win. The pose is gorgeous. The face is detailed and expressive, the colors are stunning, and detailing is ridiculous, all the little hairs and the claws and the speckles on the belly and everything, they all work together so perfectly in the end result. There is just so much to love about this piece.



Thank you ALL again! This has been an amazing experience for me, and I hope that all of you, winners or not, have had fun doing the art.

I'll be contacting everybody individually to ask about getting originals for the real media pieces, I'd love to own all of these, if possible. :) And of course I'll be contacting the winners about their prizes. I love the first one. You're right. That face is perfect. And I love that elbow hair under the pearl. And that Guardian is in its own house.
