I have watched Good Omens.

I absolutely watched it with shipping goggles on, but good god you nearly need to watch it with anti-shipping googles to come to any conclusion other than these two are madly in love with each other. <3 I am, of course, perfectly happy with people who want to write just-bros and BFF fics about them, I don't require that all ship as I ship, but seriously, it's the loudest subtext I think I've ever seen. I love it.

I'm also 1500 words into a fic.

There will be sex. Though it will not be much like most of my sex fics in certain ways...

But there is no way that there won't be angel/demon loving going on here, given them and given me. :D

The loving is the point, though. The sex is just bonus.

I couldn't remotely resist playing with the greek forms of love in their conversation about it. I mean they absolutely would be familiar with those, since they're so often invoked as part of Christian dogma. (I even broght up storge. I can't resist kind of loving "storge" as a word. It sounds so silly! It's so seldom used! It's a nice little useful distinction, like all the greek loves are.)

Well, that they love each other is definitely the text. But what kind of love is still subtext, in my opinion. They're presented as not-quite-human, and they're not given the explicitly sexual and/or romantic "happy ending" that the human couples get. It's possible that they aren't human enough to have an eros sort of thing going, it may be more the "bromance" or the very close platonic friendship.

I was just talking about this with my husband last night, and honestly our media is really lacking in close, emotionally intimate, platonic male/male friendships. So if people want to see this as a particularly close but non-sexual, non-romantic relationship, I'm honestly very down with that, I think that's intended as a possible reading.

Just, you know, the "they're totally banging" and "they're basically married" are also intended as possible readings.

Not all canon has to have a firm answer. Canon is "they're really close", but I do feel that going beyond that is subtext and not text.
