...even though honestly a lot of the joy has long since worn off. And yet the appeal of an actual audience who actually interacts with me as an author is irresistible.

I posted the story to both sites within minutes of each other. After 24 hours, this is the state of both versions.

I wish like HELL that the multifandom version of Fimfic had launched as originally planned, because the site's setup is SO much better for community, following, and interaction than AO3. AO3 does what it says on the tin, it's an archive. It's not a social media site. But Fimfic manages to be a good hybrid between fiction archive and social media. It's not perfect, but it has a lot of really excellent features, especially in how groups and your feed are implemented.

Things like the "featured" box are less important in my opinion, but I'd about kill for decent groups, or blogs, or PMing on AO3. I can say "Oh yeah, I know so and so from Fimfic, we talk sometimes." Hell, I met my girlfriend there! We geeked at each other's stories, and then started sharing more personal stuff via PM. But I've never "met" anybody on AO3.

Anyhow.

I know that won't be changing, and everybody just has a tumblr blog, but I'm not going back to tumblr, so I guess I'll just lurk here forever, getting one new fan a year or so following my links on literally every story from AO3 to here.
