Write Every Day, December 15

[bladespark]

Today has been focused on cleaning, not writing. We're having company over for Christmas, so we have to whip the place into shape. We're not living in filth or anything, but we are living in monumental amounts of clutter. We're two project people who like to create and learn new things, so stuff "in progress" in some way piles up all over the house. Add in a three-year-old who hates picking up after herself to the mix, and it's the proverbial "looks like a tornado came through" all the time here.

When it's cleaned up, though, our house is actually super nice. <3 We rent, but I love this place. It's perfect for us, and our downstairs is basically a giant library, with well over a thousand books on very nice shelves in it.

I have banged out an alibi sentence, though, and I hope to write a little more later.

Sneakily re-read and revised the story I sent to beta yesterday, getting in one last round of edits before she goes over it.

Last night ended up being 542 words.

Tonight I have so much less time and the words are flowing so much more easily, which is patently unfair. I'm at 250+ words already and I sat down about 20 minutes ago.

did more index cards for 30 minutes before typing up what I wrote yesterday - 1,108 words.

*looks around the house* Clutter, you say? yeah, that's gotta be dealt with at some point.

Day 15 - 140 on the HLH piece, and I think I have the shape of it, and most of the words, so now I need to find the brain (and time) to actually pull it together. I may not be the last poster this year! (Maybe I shouldn't have said that....)

I got 101 on Come Undone + 314 words on Spicy Advent. Man I need to get that done.

16 Dec: 1,041 words on TTF#7, and I frittered away an hour or two working on icons for the current fan_flashworks round, on the grounds that if I start a flashfic now, it'll just distract me from my goal fics. #strategy ;-)

Day 15: 1,210 words on one fic, and 466 words on another! Productive, though perhaps those word counts should have been flipped, as the latter fic is the one with an actual deadline. Oh well.

December 15: After days of being stalled I managed 117 words, so I call that a win.

Clutter? Oh, I know some things about that! Less about how to clean it up, it seems. I've started writing a List in my notebook about everything that needs to be done, though! Maybe then I can start setting myself tasks. Because "clean up this place" is far too monumental a task, agh, I need smaller tasks. Anyway, good luck getting the place Christmas-ready!

Anyway, yesterday I worked on the short story again, some story words and some character notes, 400+ words altogether. And I managed to start my Yuletide fic! I've still got two days to go before deadline, sure I'll make it! For an assignment that made me go "whee, I've wanted to write this for ages!" I'm sure not starting too early...

Day 15: Yesterday got me past that starting-a-new-chapter-what-am-I-doing rough spot, so today I was able to write a decent amount of words in a relatively short time (which is all I had to give it, so that worked out well!).

I do not have the excuse of being a project person, but I can definitely relate to the clutter idea, if only because my husband is an actual-facts, could-be-featured-on-TV hoarder. I am NOT, but with four cats and no time (and with being sick for going on the ninth day in a row), well...I'm glad we're NOT hosting people for the holidays.

Like you, we have thousands of books, too, which is my favorite sort of clutter. ;-)

I am very glad for you and yours, though, that you got the straightening done. Yay!

I wrote 636 more words on the Bond/Q story.

On the 15th, I applied beta notes to one exchange fic, rewrote a bit and then poked at another fic. I have no idea how to end that one, which is a bit weird since usually the ending is what I know first ...

Signed up for an exchange, then posted two fic, and wrote up a December Days post. Not a lot of new words, but a lot of interaction with words.
