Write Every Day, December 23rd

So, I did get my Jingleclop gift. From somebody who'd obviously put a ton of effort into it, too, and included a lot of my favorite things! Alas, they also included a few of my least favorite things, such as a specific characterization I find incredibly jarring. But it was still pretty sweet. :3

No feedback as yet from the person I wrote for. Given the time of year that's hardly surprising, between holidays, winter illness, etc.

On which front, I'm sick.

Yay.

My productivity is in the toilet today. Also Christmas is ruined. :P I mean not really, but we're having the family dinner and present opening probably on New Year's day, so that I don't infect my poor, already sick mother in law, who's had a lot of health challenges lately.

Thankfully the goober is still young enough to not know or care what the actual calendar date is, so she won't feel sad "missing" Christmas, she'll get all her presents and her visit from Santa all the same.

On the writing front, I'll confess that today I've done zero words so far. Will try to get an alibi sentence in on the Jingleclop sequel chapters, at least. I'm not supposed to post my own version until the 29th anyhow, and really I can do it whenever, so there's no rush there, I just know if I don't get it done soon it may end up on the "years later" shelf. Where it would have lots of company. I think my record between starting and finishing a story is currently ten years? Though I have some that if I do ever finish them, will make that considerably longer. I have upwards of 100 unfinished things of one kind or another kicking around, and ~25 being "actively" worked on at any given time.

I'm about five hundred words into firelight ch 7 and stalled while I try to figure out where Mentor's Old Flame lives and where-ish, therefore, she might be willing to meet two different sets of total strangers. in scenes that neither of this story's PoV characters will be present for. I literally only need the whereabouts in order for Our Heroine to relay that information to set-of-strangers-2 and for me to ballpark how long it'll take set 2 to get there from here via public transportation. both where and when are things the final draft needs to correctly state, but neither detail actually impacts anything actually onscreen.

Oh, I'm so sorry you're sick. Being on the tail (lingering) end of a cold myself, I can definitely empathize. I hope you feel better soon. It sucks being sick for the holidays, but I'm glad you were able to work out a compromise for your MIL, so everyone can celebrate together.

I had coffee with a former student turned friend this morning, and then I spent the afternoon and evening baking cookies and grading essays. I have the last of the cookies to roll in sugar, and then I'm done with baking.

Tomorrow is, in theory, decorating the little tabletop tree and getting all the wrapping done.

Oh, and I added 649 words to the Bond/Q fic, 152 of which are notes on tomorrow's writing, which is a trick I use when I'm busy/distracted/tired and need to have something waiting for me to remind me of which direction I'm heading. It's useful for motivation, and I need that. For as much as I'm enjoying this story--and I am--I'm just *tired*, you know? Ugh.
