Merry Christmas! The whole family is sick now (the goober child is nearly over it, though still snotty, but my poor partner JJ is in the worst throes of it now) so we're doing basically nothing for Christmas. Kiddo did open her presents and has been playing with them (already broke one, of course) and that's about it. It's not bad, tbh, to take a laid-back holiday just the three of us. We've always gone somewhere and visited somebody, and often then hopped on a plane and visited somebody *else* right after, too, so just doing nothing followed by mostly more nothing is nice. I have not written and am not going to stress myself over it.

I forgot to check in for the 24th, but there were some more edits on the Yuletide fic, both based on beta comments and things I came up with on my own, and I finally felt pretty much satisfied by it.

On the 25th, I wrote a couple of Yuletide Madness ficlets that I had been thinking about but hadn't had time to start earlier. I even finished both of them! Helps that they're short, of course. :-) I'm so excited to have managed to write some treats, I usually only manage to write my assigned fic when I do exchanges. (Because I invariably write it late and edit almost until the reveals...)

We had a mostly relaxed time first alone and then with my family, despite a furry and a human patient with a head cold each, and despite being busybusybusy again I managed to write the enormous amount of 19 words on Christmas Eve, *g* and about 200 words on the 25th, first draft of a pinch-hit I accepted which is due tomorrow night. The pinch-hit is quite welcome, since I realised I haven't posted any regular fanfic this year, and so I'll still have something publishable to show for this year.

You know, the "Healthy Christmas" reminds me of a tiff we had probably a decade or more ago (yikes, time!) over you using some long acronym and refusing to say "Christmas." I was so annoyed! And now here we are, me now actually getting why somebody might be so fed up as to avoid even speaking the word, and you wishing me it anyway. :D Times certainly change!

I mean, it's still the Vague Early Winter Possibly Religious Festival to me, or Secular Christmas, or any of the other ways of talking about the Winter Festival that have no Christian connotation, but we've also figured out in the intervening time that you should use what names people use for themselves and their things, unless there's a really, really, good reason to do otherwise.

Yep, that's a good way to go about it. Though as I said, these days I do actually get why somebody would feel avoidant about the overwhelming christian majority terms for things. :P

Solstice is the thing I *personally* celebrate now, and the *other* Vague Early Winter Possibly Religious Festival is more Familially Convenient Time For Gift Exchange or something.
