A compilation of good news
Aug. 12th, 2020 04:44 pmThe world is on fire! Augh! Halp!
Well, there's really nothing I can do about that (I can't even vote. I mean, I can, and I will, but my vote in the presidential election is purely symbolic, I live in Oregon. Only my vote on local issues actually counts. Good god this system is broken. Okay, okay, shutting up about that.)
So let's do a thing I can do. List good news I've gotten lately!
Obviously near the top of this list is that Blood Choice is now out in both paperback and e-book. It's my first novel, and honestly I still really like it. Are there things I might do differently today? Of course! But it's a fun book, and I re-read it every now and then, because I write for myself first and foremost. I still enjoy it!
Next, more writing stuff. The little trilogy of post-apocalyptic vampire/were-folk smut I tried self-publishing as an experiment is about to get a "real" publisher, as JMS Books accepted it. It's getting rolled into one volume and given one of their terribad covers. :D I mean, I'm hoping to get another Stallion Assassin, where it's also epic and amazing along with awful, but whatever. Somebody else will upload and even market it a little, all I have to do at this point is approve some edits and do the basic marketing announcements when it comes out. Yay! Self-pub sucks. At least for me. (No pub. date on it yet, but I have signed a contract, so it's 100% happening, I just don't know when, exactly. It'll be e-book only as it's too short for paperback.)
Also, in writing news, I had an agent ask for a full manuscript! Which is a big deal.
Of course, life being hilariously contrary and stupid, it's the random novella I sent to somebody on a whim, and not the novel I'm working super hard to seriously shop around.
But still! Crossing my fingers that goes somewhere. Probably won't, novellas are really hard to do anything with. But one can hope.
In non-writing news, I've been doing well with making MLP giant beanie plushes, and have finally got actual money actually in my bank account. Not a ton, and I need to sit on most of it because I never have reliable income, but it's nice! (I am not financially insecure in any extreme way, since I'm lucky enough to be married to somebody with a regular paycheck that's just enough to make ends meet for us all, but it doesn't extend to any personal spending money for me, and also it tends to not extend to a lot of savings, so my extra income is pretty much split between me being able to buy clothing, cider, stupid shit from the net, etc., and us having a little extra for emergencies. Ergo it's super good to have.)
I've also started a set of Eevee evolutions! Finished Eevee a few days ago, I'll drop a pic down under the cut there. Debating who to do next. Probably Flareon, as that's the easiest, it's pretty much the exact same pattern as Eevee. (If anybody here wants to claim one, they'll be between $140 and $180 depending, plus shipping, and I'll prioritize ones that already have an interested buyer.)

It's 18" long, and has beans in the legs, feet, and belly, while the rest is soft-stuffed. Super fricking cuddly, though I do wish I had a tail fabric that was a better color match. Oh well!
So yeah. Life is stressful and a lot of it sucks, but there are still good things.
