Firedragons

When humans accidentally start a forest fire near the elven village of Illiera, two unlikely saviors fight to stop the flames.

Or: Like firefighters, but dragons! Firedragons, lol.

Obviously inspired by recent events. :3 I cope with things by writing about them.

In other news, Goober started school today. I am a weird mix of worried, delighted, and guilty about that. Worried because obviously covid, delighted because as an only child with some social delays, this will be soooooooo good for her, and also I get some of my free time back. Guilty because how much did "I get free time" influence my decision to send her, anyway? Sigh. Her school program has a robust anti-covid setup, and she's in a class of 8 kids and 2 teachers, in Oregon, where the virus is being at least sorta contained, ish. So it's relatively low risk, and given she's just four, I feel like her having absolutely no peer interactions for another whole year or however long it takes for the vaccine to be widely available will really set her back, you know?

Anyhow, her first day went really well. She kept her mask on, said she had a ton of fun, and the teachers didn't mention any meltdowns or problems when I picked her up. So hopefully it continues to go well.

If it helps at all, I teach with more than 700 high school boys, masked, behind desk shields, with up to 22 of them and me in a classroom, and we've had only ONE case, and he tested positive BEFORE he was ever in school, which means we have yet to have a case, and we've been back 11 days. I know it's still early days yet, but I'm feeling hopeful about our staying in school.

All of this is to illustrate that your kid's situation sounds really low-risk, and I think your reasons for wanting her to go to gain social experience are good ones. I hope she continues to have a ton of fun at school!

I think it's such an important time for kids to meet other kids. Sending your rugrat to school will be the absolute best thing for her (and also for you).
