Virtual conventions are weird.

I'm in the midst of "attending" Oxfurred Comma, the Furry Writers' Guild convention.

It's been fun! I haven't watched all the panels, but I've tuned in to a few, and one in particular (on writing characters with disabilities) made me rethink one of my stories. Probably going to hunt down a sensitivity reader to get some input on that. (If anybody knows someone who is hearing, mute, and uses sign, I know that's a smallish niche, but would be ideal!)

Anyhow. I'm also vending, of course, which is slow. It's a first year con, in a weird format, in a niche of a niche, since writing is one of the smaller bits of the furry fandom, so I'm not surprised it's tiny. Maybe a couple hundred attendees total? Still, that's better than nothing. And the panels really are stellar, what ones I've tuned into.

They got some actual zoologists to turn up for a panel on fantasy creatures, kind of a "how to make your humanish animals animal, and how to make your aliens alien" thing, that was <3

I haven't had any sales yet myself? Or rather, if I have, they've been my books through Amazon or JMS Books, which I don't manage directly, so I'll find out come quarterly reporting time. :3

Haven't sold any plushes or signed author's copies, is all.

I don't mind, though, I'm having fun. :D Even if it is very different from the hotel ballroom convention vending experience.

glad you're having fun. Also if you find someone in that niche...yeah that's sort of the niche I need for my next thing too
