Today I am so incredibly brain fried that I am writing the day off. So why not waste time doing question meme things? Stolen from [personal profile] springheel_jack

Winter is soup time. What’s your favorite kind of soup? (Please post the recipe or source?)
Green Tomato soup! (Properly probably Creamy Green Tomato, leek and bacon soup.)

3 slices bacon
One large leek
1-2 cloves garlic
1 bay leaf
1/2 onion
1 carrot
1 stick celery
2lbs? green tomatoes
2 cups chicken broth
season salt
pepper
2/3 cup cream

Fry bacon in a sautee pan, remove and drain. Cut up onion, celery, and carrot finely, add them to bacon fat. Add season salt, crushed garlic, and bay leaf. Cook until onion begins to soften. Wash, chop, and add leek. Cook a few minutes more. Fish out bay leaf. Chop and add tomatoes, season with pepper. Cook until tomatoes begin to soften. Add broth. Bring to a simmer. Turn off heat, blend until mostly smooth. Add cream and crumbled bacon. Eat.

If you learn that a celebrity of whom you are a fan of has done something horrible, does it affect your ability to enjoy works they previously produced?
Depends, really. Depends on what they did. Depends on what they did about it after. Depends on the work and how I relate to it. Mostly I just move on, though. There are more good books than I could ever read, more great movies and TV than I could ever watch. Why waste time on something that I have to justify? (I think the only one I've ever really struggled with on this front was the Piano Guys. Some of their music, especially the one that's flipping literally about going home with footage from my home, the nature parts of it that I miss intensely, was such a deeply meaningful and beautiful thing to me, and just... Ugh. I hear it now, and I also can't help but picture that song being played for fucking Trump. I don't know what they actually performed at his inauguration, but it is all tainted, that's just the one where I wish so damn fucking hard that it wasn't. I cried the first dozen times I watched that video, and now it makes me want to cry for a different reason and also punch things.)

If you were given an extra day every year to do whatever you want, what would you do?
One extra day a year is so meaningless next to the scope of my exhaustion and of the things I wish I could do but variously can't that I'd probably spend it like any day. I mean, I wouldn't sew or write unless I had a project I was excited about, but hey, that's today too, so...

Let’s do some pseudo-science! What’s your Enneagram type?
Well, I'm glad this quiz knows that's pesudoscience. I am apparently a 4 (The Individualist) very closely followed by 8 (The Challenger). To be honest, they're not entirely wrong, even if they are bit Barnum-Statement-Y.

What’s your favorite candy bar?
Conventional candy, Reeses Cups. If I can go overseas, the UK Boost Bars (but I think they don't make them anymore?) If I get to be fancy, a really good small-source dark chocolate, like Moonstruck.

What city or other location were you born in?
Brigham City Utah. At least I think so? I might have actually been born in the SLC hospital? But that's where my parents lived at the time.

What’s the most ridiculous way you’ve ever been injured?
Broke both arms at the same time on a football field while setting up for pep band. I blame the drummer.

It’s Learn What Your Name Means Day. So, what does your name mean? Do you think it fits you?
My Deadname means "crowned." I see sites with "crowned with roses" or "crowned with flowers," but it's a feminine version of a male name that means "crowned". Making it female does not add flowers to the meaning, nothing in the name says flowers. Idiots.

Ahem.

My chosen name means Fire. This was deliberate for various reasons, but I am also named after a character in an obscure Judith Tarr book. The fun of picking your own! So yes it fits me. (Even the *sigh* stereotype now that it's a trans man's name. I SWEAR I picked it long before that was a thing! I'm way older than most of the guys making it a meme!)

The old one was okay, the meaning is fine, hell, I even like roses, but the, er...cultural associations weren't very me even putting aside the gendered problem.

My old surname is Park and it means Park. :D It's not Korean, it's British. So... Park.

My current one I have no idea. I must go ask. (Partner does not know! Now I must ask the internet. Which says it means a tenant on church land. Okay then!)

I came across a recipe yesterday for onion/bacon jam! I think I'm going to give it a go. I used to buy a balsamic onion jam at World Market, but they stopped carrying it, and I was never able to get the vendor to return my messages.

that soup does sound yummers.
I used to absolutely love Penn and Teller but there was a conflict of interest because I'm on disability and they're libertarians. Don't ask me what libertarians expect all us disabled people to do....
I used to be really into Enneagrams until I heard they were thought up by scientologists.
this seems like a fun meme, I think I may do it myself.
