Another dream

bladesparkI had a dream last night that was very, very long, and in fact I woke up from it more than once but fell back asleep and went right back into it.
In this dream a fantasy city was hosting some kind of big event, and there was a sort of parade route inside the walls. Basically everyone ever anywhere had been invited, and the city's mayor was standing at the gate, atop a steep stair/ladder people had to climb, and vetting who could actually come in. Nobody outright evil, and no dueling allowed inside, were the rules. But so many magical people kept coming and coming and coming, and she gave up on the vetting and was pulled away to deal with the duels breaking out anyway. She pretty much threw up her hands and said "Let them all in, then, the place is ruined anyway!" as she left.
I was there at the gate, though, and decided to volunteer to continue vetting people and at least telling them they shouldn't duel.
The people coming in were basically anybody magical, super powered, etc. including tons from movies, TV, and books, but also original ones my brain came up with. The dream was so long, I was guarding the gate for three days or so? Also a few authors came in, I remember greeting Terry Pratchett!
If I could remember all the original creatures/people, I'd have enough weird concepts and interesting characters, especially villains, to populate a few hundred novels, I think! But the only one that actually stuck with me was this little group of demonic wizards, who had one less speaking voice in the group than members. And apparently being without one's voice drove one mad, for them? So they spent all their time and energy stealing voices back and forth. But it turns out that having your voice stolen that way by one of them turned you into one of them too, which they did to a random bystander at one point, and then the group was that much larger, but *still* short one voice! They must have started with just one voiceless demon-wizard, who stole a voice and created a second, however long ago.
They looked like cat-people, a little, with HUGE eyes in very bright color, and wore black robes, and had black skin/fur.
Very usefully weird concept to have in my back pocket for a story, I think!
