F&SF Magazine just now opened for submissions for 2021.

So I submitted!

A Lovecraftian Lesbians story (no sex, just implications) that is also one of the more Literary things I've done, so it feels like it might have a chance?

I've never gone for the big leagues before. TBH I've never submitted to a short story venue where I didn't feel like I was right on par with the best they'd get? Maybe that's my ego, but my total lack of rejections says otherwise. (I've had rejections from agents and publishers for my novel, but not from anthologies so far.)

Anyhow!

I feel that's ending the year on a high note! Even if I get turned down, I got up the guts to send a story in to one of THE big-name genre magazines.

So wish me luck! And wish us all luck in the coming year.

Just twitter, mostly. :3 And the Furry Writer's Guild, but they only do furry specific kinds of things.

Thanks. Yeah I do not do furry stuff for the most part. I never see too many things on twitter that I can use. There used to be clearing houses for this sort of thing but not so much any more

I guess it depends on who you follow. I mean, I knew to the second when F&SF opened because I follow *them* on Twitter.

Yeah that's also true. I had no luck with them though that was the 90s. I'm better now but they were so ridiculously rude back then I've avoided them. I need to remind myself it's been 25 years...

Huh. What counts as ridiculously rude? So far most of the rejections I've gotten from everybody have been pretty obviously form letters.

Oh I got a few personalized one, one of which called me an amateur (better than another friend who was called banal) and another rejection from them that said 'if you read our magazine you'd know we never publish mundane creatures like werewolves.'

My story had no werewolves IN it.

I later learned that this particular editor was a complete and utter dick to everyone, especially at conventions. I think they eventually dumped him (versus him leaving) This is 25 years ago like I said but it left a bad feeling and I DID stop getting their magazine as a result. (this was after I did have a couple stories published in international magazines)
