Fabriphilia
Jun. 16th, 2004 09:00 pmToday was really slow at work, and so, as is usually the case, they found things for us to do, since there weren't enough kids to keep us all busy. I ended up back in the greenroom, which also happens to be the storeroom for anything costume/theater related. Included all the fabric and sewing stuff.
The fabric is a mess. Treehouse never throws anything away, what with it being a non-profit organization, so the fabric boxes were crammed full of all kinds of fabric, including a lot of random weird stuff and a lot of little scraps.
So Holli decided that somebody needed to at least sort out the little scraps from the larger ones from the big lengths, and I volunteered. It was surprisingly fun! For one thing we've got a lot of interesting fake fur, from the various animal costumes we've done. Including some black leapoard that I was drooling at. Softest thing I've ever felt that wasn't actually from an animal. And I found some real stuff too. Leather mostly... weird. Why do we have a bunch of really nice suede leather?
Yes, I petted the fur. And the velvet. And the plush felt. And the satin. And I think I'm far too fond of fabric, because I spent most of the day back there and could have kept going when it was time to quit. Also, I lusted after the nice furs. They had a couple that would be perfect for some of my current projects, and a few other things that I know I could find a use for.
Is fabriphile a word? Because if it is, I am one...
