DOOM!

Well, not only have I ripped off all my MoTab, I also ripped every other CD I own, and copied all the mp3 CDs to my laptop. Well, most of them... there's still the heap that Keith gave me, but I still haven't even listened to some of those. There are a lot of them!

And I accidentally deleted my copy of "Obscured By Clouds" so I get to hunt for it again. Which is going to be a huge pain, so if any of you out there have a copy, and might be willing to help me regain mine.... *big kitten eyes*

But as is, I now have a massive, random playlist of DOOM. Realis? You thought my playlist was weird when you came to visit? Well, it just got weirder. There's even some Christmas music in there. (One of those is playing right now... Oh, no, wait, new song!) It's great. From MoTab to Metallica to Tom Petty to the Beatles to Floyd, just like that. *grins* Now, of course, I need to put together some sub-lists for specific moods, because I'm not always wanting to hear the random shuffled list of DOOM.

I have the urge to list off every group I have on the playlist, but it's something like 100 different groups at this point, so that would be a bit too much work. Other than one or two artists, I tend to like a song here and a song there, and not collect the whole of anybody's work. And odds are I have at least one song in any musical genre you care to name. Except I don't think I have any rap, unless you could Weird Al versions of rap songs...

Of course my list doesn't compare at all to the massive music collections that some of you have. All of my stuff put together is a mere 6 gigs or so. But consider that this was me chosing the favorites, just the songs I actually want to listen to, and not taking whole albums. Well, except for the MoTab and the Floyd, I took complete albums of those, and those are the two groups I'm closest to owning the full discography. In fact, in the case of the MoTab I have every single CD they've ever released on their own label. I'm missing the old ones when they used to go through a third party, but they started doing their own label about the time my Dad joined them, so I've had an in to getting their stuff the instant it comes out ever since. But to get back to my original point, 6 gigs is me skimming off my very favorites by each musician and group, otherwise I'd have run out of space on this laptop. I have a mere 30 gigs of storage on this thing. That's not much room when you consider that this is my only computer. Everything I do gets stored here.

It's alive!

I have a new printer/scanner/copier/fax combo thing. It's farily awesome, though I doubt I'll ever use the fax.

But it speaks.

Scared the living daylights out of me the first time it did it. It still startles me, even when I'm expecting it, but I keep forgetting it does it! Not that the printer itself has speakers, it's through the computer. But in the middle of listening to music, one does not expect to her a Star-Trek-esque neutral masculine voice going "Printing started" at you.

I've been thinking today about the Paint Your Own gryphons, and I had a flash of brilliant idea!

The problem was that implementing said idea required purchase of one more gryphon. And it just so happens that right now they have a batch of PYO gryphons up on ebay, so, well....

I gave away one, and sold one, so I currently only own four, but I just bought two new ones, so it goes back up to six. Whee.

Anyhow, idea! (This rocks so much!) I got a red eyed one in the initial round of early releases with the idea that I was going to make an evil gryphon. I like evil color schemes, and they sculpt itself has this self-satisfied smirk that goes really well on an evil critter. So I was brainstorming notions for evil. I thought of and discarded a lot of half-baked things, and then it came to me! The balrog, from the LOTR movies, is awesomely evil, and it has this crackled black over fire thing going. What if I could replicate that on the feather texture of these things? It had to be tried! Layered washes starting with yellow and working up to red, and then a final, careful coat of drybrushing in soot black. It would be perfect.

But the red eyed gryphon is a deep, blood red. For a creature like that it needed something brighter. I thought of using my orange for a bit, but that still wasn't right. What really was called for was a bright, light yellow.

Which happens to be one of the colors currently for sale on e-bay. So I got one. And then I gave in to the urge to get a grey eyed one as well, as grey is awesome and goes with everything.

The grey will be squirreled away to appreciate in value, along with my orange and red, whilst the yellow becomes a gryphon demon, and the blue a firecat gryphon.

They shall be purely awesome if they come out right!

I'm going to sell my Peregrine/Snow Leopard Gryphon. If anybody is interested, you can let me know, otherwise I'll be putting it up on ebay later. Additional pictures are available on request.
