I went and watched one bunch of overly muscled young men in silly outfits chase around a ball with another bunch of overly muscled young men in differently colored silly outfits, today.
Or in other words, I wanted a football game. Live, at Autzen Stadium, which is the home of the Oregon Ducks. JJ's dad gets tickets, but was out of town today, so he couldn't use them. So we used them instead.
I am not really a fan of football. I think people get far too worked up over it. But going to a live game is rather fun. There's a huge amount of energy there, especially when "there" is Autzen, which apparently has a reputation as one of the worst places to play an away game, because the crowd is huge, hyper, and makes as much noise as crowds in stadiums nearly twice that size. I'm not even kidding there, because I am actually still slightly deaf, some four hours after the end of the game. JJ told me that the decibel level on the playing field can be comparable to the decibel level on an airstrip next to a plane taking off. I believe it.
Our side won, though the game was fairly hard fought. Those are the best kind. Just walking all over some team that's not nearly up to your level isn't any fun, and of course losing is no fun whatsoever. Winning against somebody who had a very good chance of beating you, however, is awesome.
I made a silly scarf to wear to the game, just because I could. Sadly nobody commented on it. It's rather original, but I will admit it's not as crazy as some of the things fans wear, particularly over in the student section, where they're mostly drunk and all insane.
