Spandex and hate.

Hand sewing spandex is a pain. A HUGE pain. Because, you see, the nature of spandex is such that when it is pulled tight, it shows the stitching at the seams. This is inevitable, but the closer your stitches are, the less they will show. So I'm taking millions of tiny little stiches. But showing less isn't not showing at all, so I also have to make them even. Minuscule, even stitches. Agh. Nightmare! Fortunately the whipstitch is the best one for spandex, and is also the fastest hand stitch out there, so I'm moving along, but still! Agh! If I had to hand-sew this whole spandex suit, I'd die of old age first. Good thing I only have to hand sew a select few bits.

what are you making using spandex?

i use a spandex like material for a few of my projects and even had problems sewing it on my machine until i changed my stitch pattern...ok enough rambling. but i feel your pain.

Blade sewing by paw is murder i know was for me when i rushed to build my costume for halloween 04 talk about murder. heh atleast i had the fursuit head thoe lol i was burning many midnight oils trying to build and when i came out it was crap paws were 2 sizes too small and the tail was crap no feet paws had to wear my shoes. Now the 3rd Partial i made for my fursuit came out ok the fur color dosent quite match but nothing a little airbruhing cant fix. Wouldnt a Sewing machine be easier to Sew fur on to spandex id think it would be alot easier than sewing by paw sewing free pawed is too long and too frustrating i think ^__^

There's no fur in this. I actually like sewing fur by hand. It's easier, and looks better than the machine stitch. It's sewing spandex I don't like.
