It's funny how the tiniest little thing can be massively depressing. And how the tiniest thing can be cheering. This morning I got marvelously cheered at choir. We have a decent sized, choir, probably 25 people or so, six or seven on each of the four parts. But today, though the whole rest of the choir was there, ther were only two altos at our rehersal. So, feeling the need to make up for the missing ones, I really belted it out. And got told by the choir director that I needed to back down, the altos were drowning out the rest of the choir. *giggles* It was one of those moments that's almost embarassing, but not quite, because it was a happy good thing. "Oh yeah," I thought to myself, "I've still got it!"

*grin* Because with just one other person I was overpowering the rest of the choir. Woo!

And then we went a sang at the old folk's home, which was marvelous. Always a good experience, that. Though sometimes the thought of being that old is kinda freaky. Some of them needed help to pick up the sacrament bread and eat it. I don't want to be old like that.

Anyhow, feeling much better now, yay.

Omg. Choir power for life!:)

I've been a choir kid for 6 years- and I still would be if I had room in my schedule....

I'm a second soprano.:) Although my range goes from tenor to soprano..o__o;;

Umm. CCS honor choir and regional honor choir is fun too.:D

Sorry, just proud of myself as well.....^__^;;

But omg! Someone else who does choir.<333 :D

And congrats. That sounds like a wonderfully rewarding experience...:)

I did band too, but choir is defintely what stuck with me. Probably because my dad was a church choir director for most of my life, and I was in the ward choir since I was old enough for him to let me go. (12 years old.) I love to sing! I think I have a decent singing voice, though not up to professional standards, sadly.

Someday, maybe when I'm older and retired and whatnot, I want to be in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Maybe... I'm not sure I'm good enough, they have shockingly tough requirements to get in, and right now at least I don't meet them all. But it's something that, if my life works out that way, I'd like to work towards someday.

(And I'm a tenor-soprano too. *grin* Wheee for large vocal ranges!)

*smiles* Glad it helped you feel better. Music can be very, very powerful in times of emotional need... believe me, I know... and even more so when you're the one making it. :)

Yay! Although I've been a band person primarily, I do know the thrill of "Erm... tone it down, please?", especially in the trombone section, where we sometimes pride ourselves on our ability to ensure that the balance is maintained by drowning out the woodwinds.

I did take a unit of choir in high school, though. Not quite my thing, and I probably don't have a great singing voice. Ah, well. Baritone-tenorish range. Not deep enough to be a bass, not really able to pick up the upper end of the tenor part, I think.
