Well, I found out how to work the up close function on the camera. It sucks. It sucks like a vacuum cleaner. I'm hoping that JJ's camera has a better close in. *crosses fingers* Else I may just have to go buy one myself on that basis. Anyhow, relaxed a bit after the day's stresses by fixing the fire on my fire mage, and then took some photos.

http://bladespark.topcities.com/minis/firemage1.jpg Before. Plain dull red with yellow highlighting
http://bladespark.topcities.com/minis/firemage2.jpg After. Five layers of graduated color in washes from white through yellow, several oranges, and red, with yellow drybrushing and red-black eyes. I could wish the photo didn't suck, but the paint job doesn't in any case! Heee. It's hard to believe this guy is just an inch tall. And I'm still in awe of people who can do actual facial features. I'm lucky if I can get eyes on something, though I did attempt eyebrows on the green elf gal. It... kinda worked out. I need more practice, and one size smaller brush. And a magnifying glass or loupe or something.

And the collection, now photographed without flash, and in up close mode, so they're slightly better than before.

Seriously, try black fabric backdrop and less lighting. Your camera's focus is going nuts.

I've put things on a backdrop before. The stupid camera is quite likely to focus on the backdrop. Though I suppose black is worth a try. Less lighting, not so easy to do, but... *shrugs* I shall attempt. Thanks for the suggestion. (The camera in question is cheap crap.)

Nope, it's a no-go. Need better camera. With possability of, say, manual focus. And stuff.

Hmm, same problem. You're far away enough to not need the macro mode, maybe, but the autofocus is most likely a one-point which focuses on the center and which would therefore focus on the backdrop unless you manually set it or have really good aim.

It would be too much to ask to have you adjust the aperature and the shutter speed manually, probably.

I could probably sell you my old camera, if you want one cheap. (It weighs too much to carry around on trips but has a ton of features and great picture quality.)

Well, we did a test of JJ's camera, and it focused beautifully. I'll have access to it in about two weeks, so I think I'll be okay. Thanks though!

The firemage is awesome! I really should try and find my collection and let you have at it. ;)
