More LJs, yay!
Jun. 15th, 2006 01:23 amI post more than Mork lately. This is scary. Though I don't quite think I've passed TSK. I'm getting close though...
Anyhow, the current topic is culinary experiements! You see, I love chowder. Clam chowder, corn chowder, potato chowder, whatever, it's all good. And lately I've been in the mood, so I've been fixing it. My favorite kind of chowder is corn and cheddar chowder, which is freakishly good stuff, but currently we lack both corn and cheddar. Also we have no clams. So I've been having potato chowder. This is okay, but a bit boring. I mean, it does have carrot, celery, and onion in there too, but that's it, really. A little salt, a little pepper, a little parsley, nothing exotic.
And this is boring, especially when you're really craving cheddar chowder and there is no cheddar in the house. Curses be upon whatever principles of cheesemaking and economics that cause monterey jack to be cheaper than cheddar! (I'd curse Mom too, for being cheap, but she really can't help it.)
So, anyhow, the chowder. I was doing the "look in the fridge again and again because maybe you'll find a tiny lump of cheddar in the back corners, forgotten" thing that you do in such situations, and I noticed the bag of fresh spinach. And a little thought crossed my brain that went something like "Spinach is really good in creamy soups. Cream of spinach is awesome stuff. I bet spinach would go great with chowder." And thus, spinach chowder was born! And lo! It was good.
