All the paperwork and beurocracy was taken care of, and I now have a kitty!

She came named "Daisy" and I"m considering this. She's somewhat shy and quiet, and is a small female calico, so it's appropriate, but I've never had a pet named anything that wasn't a reference of some sort, plus every time I think of her name, I end up with the "Daisy, Daisy" song stuck in my head.

Anybody have any good name suggestions?

Kitty!

Yaykitty!

I kept Holly's shelter name, but eventually we discovered a name that she actually responds to. We figure that it's the name she should really have. It might take a little time to discover what you really want to name your new kitty.

Concurrence! We can't suggest names until we know what she looks like, to say nothing of her quirks.

YAY CAT! :D

Yeah I'd give her time to demonstrate her true personality first. Maybe she won't be so timid after she gets used to the place and you'll be calling her Little Terror or Lucy (short for Lucifer, that is) or something along those lines. ;D The name will probably just pop up out of nowhere when you least expect it.

Kudos to you for not getting a kitten instead, aside from the trouble they can get into... 'cause adult cats need homes too. :)

we named our first cat Luci (short for Lucifer) and oddly enough shes the most mellow of all our cats.

Aww, yeah, de-clawing ain't such a nice thing. One of my mom's cats was from a shelter and had had his front paws declawed by the previous owners, but he sure made up for it in forelimb strength! He must have pumped iron in his cage at the shelter (plotting his escape maybe?) because he had one hell of a grip!

And he still had hind claws to kick with while he held your arm captive... >_<

Damn I loved that cat, even if he did make me sick due to my allergies. I was devestated when he died...

No, if you name the cat Lucy, then 'lucy-fur' would be just the stuff she sheds on the couch.

calico names:
Patch
Ragamuffin
Penelope
Tiki

and just for the record, cats respond better to names with a strong "ee" sound, like Luci, Sushi, Spooky (yes, i used my own kitties names for an example, but when i call them, they actually come running.)

I personally like names that I can make lots of nicknames for in reference to her. My siblings all have nicknames, many of them using their initials, etc. I also like using inside meanings (Like my youngest brother's nickname is KP; those are his initials, but they're also the initials of an entire family who used to be our good friends and neighbors).

You know, every time I hear the Daisy Daisy song, I think of Hal 9000. So why not call her Hal9k, or Dave. :)
