Let me tell you... if any of you ever think about painting statuary or minis, you MUST get Golden flow improver or liquid medium. Holy crap! I have never been able to do antiquing, washes, inks, etc. like this! Wow. It is totally shocking how much difference it makes to be able to thin down the pigment without having it get watery.

When I post pictures of this PYO kirin, I hope they do it justice. It's not the least bit finished yet, and already it is very impressive!

And when I get out the new gel medium and the interference paints... Heeeeeeeeee!

That's good to know. I normally use antiquing gel for that sort of thing, but to be able to turn any acrylic paint into an antiquing-like substance (without the need for toxic solvents for the wiping off part) is damn awesome! I hate paint thinner, and would rather just rub off the acrylic instead of the oil-based gel (which also stinks and makes me dizzy @_@).

I was using it today with "inks" which are translucent thingies meant for mini painting, and designed to be a little bit like antiquing gel, but not smelly. I'm not sure exactly what the effect would be with an opaque paint. But I shall find out soon enough, I'm sure!

Augh. Though whatever you do, don't get water in with the stuff, apparently. *pokes at statue, which is STILL wet and tacky after sitting overnight.*

Hunh... you wouldn't think it would matter too much, eh, given acrylic's water base. Maybe this is just the extended drying time of the medium then... that is a bit of a deterrent since it'd be nice to be able to work daily on a figure. Good luck, eh? I wanna see how this turns out... hopefully you're not waiting on the drying aspect like an oil painter for months! 0_0 'Days' is more appropriate I should think. ;)

That's good! Maybe try taking a blow dryer to it on the cool setting, speed things up a bit for the other sections that got dampened. That's really peculiar though... wonder why it holds pure water so long?
