It's like they're trying to somehow make an intimate connection turn up that isn't there, and somehow force you to like them, or something.

It's not just you. I find it extremely unnerving for the same reason. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm one of those people that gets embarrassed at the sound of their own name. ;)

It's not just creepy, it's intentional. They are trying to sell you something, and standard business practice is to include the marketing target's name as often as possible in the sales pitch.

People who use my name constantly freak me out. The way they keep repeating it... it makes me think they're trying to put some kind of curse one me

People who use my last name in an obviously informal setting are really weird.

People who use my first name in an obvious formal setting when lots of last names are being used really annoy me.

it weirds me out a bit... 'course, I try to use someone's name in the greeting when I contact them, too... but I don't think I use it anywhere else. And I almost never call my husband by his first name, it feels weird to me... we use pet names about 98% of the time.

Yeah, that is kinda creepy. Or when you get an IM from people and they use your name all the time. Like
"Hey Streak"
"Or sorry Streak, I never saw that movie"

Honestly, you dun have to use the name of the ONLY person you`re talking to. Stop it.
